Step out of the ordinary
Muriwai Beach is a wild, wonderful, west coast community, located just 40 minutes from Auckland’s CBD. Known for its sweeping black sand beach, excellent surf conditions and spectacular cliff-top gannet colony, this spot is also home to a group of well-known, diverse and highly gifted artists. Among them are painters, potters, photographers, sculptors, poets, illustrators, jewellery, textile and embroidery artists – who, as a collective, are all clearly inspired by the rugged coastal environment in which they live, but as individuals also have their own unique creative processes and fascinating forms of expression.

Muriwai Arts Open Studios give you a chance to a) see these talented artists in their element, and b) to view their art within the setting that has inspired it.
